Inferno Fitness & Martial Arts Success Stories
Michael Spruell
In late 2008 I was struggling with a general feeling of unease and unhappiness about where I was in my life. I was weighing 260 pounds on a 5’9” frame and I was always tired and lethargic. One day, I decided to call Inferno MMA to inquire about classes. My first class was pretty miserable because I was in such terrible shape, but I stuck to it and after a while I decided to join.
After joining I started making steady progress in my technique, but I was seeing all these guys and gals who were part of Inferno’s competition team, and they were in such incredible shape. I had it in the back of my mind that I would like to someday compete in MMA, but I knew if I was ever going to be able to compete, I would need to match their fitness level. Just after the turn of the new year in 2009, I had my body fat tested and learned that I was 37% body fat. With Inferno’s help, my fat loss journey began.
Inferno’s high intensity training sessions, along with their competitive but supportive environment, and their focus on healthy eating and lifestyle began to exact changes on my physique. The more progress I saw the further I wanted to go. Now, just over two years have passed and I have been able to compete on multiple occasions in MMA events, weighing only 170 lbs and my body fat percentage in just over 10%! Thank you to all my coaches and training partners at Inferno MMA for all the help and support. I could not have done it without you.

When we first found out about Inferno, our son, Raven was having a lot of behavioral problems in school. We thought that this would be an oppurtunity to give him motivation to behave. We told him that if he could keep from getting in trouble at school and control his temper, we would let him start taking classes.
He had been wanting to start something and asking about it for a while. He tried, but just couldn't go very long before he would throw fits and act out in school. We decided that we would go ahead and see how he would do. He was only 5 and we didn't know how his attention span would hold up. He tried his first class and he loved it. We decided that we would take him back again.
We had almost given up completely on different ways to get him to behave in school. He had problems almost the entire preschool year and also most of that year in Kindergarten. The more I brought him to Inferno, the more I saw how they instilled respect, even on the youngest children. They were taught order and discipline but still had fun. Even though we taught the same things in our home, it was more encouraging to Raven to see it enforced somewhere else, to see that it was expected in other environments as well.
After a month or so, I realized that Raven had not gotten in trouble at school at all, not once! I was so happy and in trying to really see the changes in his life, I thought about Inferno. That was the only real difference. He had an outlet for his extra energy and was consistently in a very strict, disciplined, orderly environment. Raven has been going to Inferno for a little over 2 years now and he is a blue belt. We are very proud of him and to this day, we have not had any more problems with his behavior at school!

When I started training at Inferno I didnt have the mindset that I was gonna loose weight even though I was pretty fat. I was a huge fan of not just mma but all kinds of martial arts. So I started training and I loved it. Then I found myself needing to train just to keep my sanity. And just like that I fell in love with it even more.
Now days if I go a week without training I feel bad and all I can think about is when I can get back to the gym. So when I started training I weighed 233 pounds. I'm not gonna lie I didnt weigh myself that much cause I didn't like seeing how much I weighed.
But one day I stepped on a scale and realized i was about 15 pounds lighter then all of a sudden losing just fifteen pounds turned into 55 pounds. I truly cant believe the complete transformation ive gone through. So I say this to anyone trying to lose weight, just have fun doing it and before you know it you just might see some shocking and amazing results.
Believe me when I say this, if I can lose 55 pounds I'm pretty sure anyone can. I just wanna say thank you to my Inferno Family for changing my life you guys have done so much for me. You're the best training partners anyone could ask for.

Inferno provides me a "Martial Arts Home". It is a place where I can be with other individuals who not only love the martial arts but bring diverse training backgrounds and experiences.
Inferno students check their egos at the door and help each other learn. The instructors are not only skilled in many arts but continously bring outside expertise into the school, they lead by example and are continously learning themselves. They will often train with you.
Inferno MMA has made me healthier by giving me a reason to continously train cardio, core, flexibility and strength in addition to learning the arts.
